Brussels, 15 January 2018/ ACP: The African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States expresses unequivocal condemnation of the shocking and hurtful racist remarks attributed to the President of the United States of America regarding a significant part of its membership, as reported in international media.

The ACP Group calls for a retraction and apology on behalf of the US President, and expresses concern at the growing pattern demonstrated by the US Administration in overlooking established principles of equality and respect for fundamental human rights as a basis for international peace, security and global development, while ensuring that no one is left behind.

The ACP Group, including its 79 member states from Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, reiterates its solidarity with the people of Haiti and all peoples of African descent, while aligning itself with the strong condemnation of the US President’s remarks by the African Union, Caribbean Community, as well as other countries and international organisations.
